May Roach Hall Dorm Reviews at UW-Stevens Point

With the pandemic, the usual resident hall activities were postponed but I still was able to hang out with small groups of residents outside or go to dinner at Upper Dining Hall. The staff are friendly and tried to put on events for us to safely attend. Other than that, it's a dorm. It's not the cleanest, the kitchen always smells and has food just left out on the counter, and there's always someone yelling, no matter the time of the day. There's no A/C, so bring a fan... or two. You'll need them. Wear shower shoes and, really, just wear shoes any time you're not in your dorm, there's always a new stain on the carpet in the hallway. The washing machines don't wash your clothes all the way and the dryers don't dry them on the first go. It would probably be cheaper to go to a laundry mat than to pay for the dorm laundry.

The inclusive culture fostered on campus is what initially drew me to UW-Stevens Point. Furthermore, the current residential staff at May Roach have embraced me as a student, resident, and, most importantly, a friend. They have created a safe environment for me to be myself on campus and are the reason I applied to be an RA. And even though the residents tend to be loud and sometimes the room feels like an oven, I have enjoyed my time in May Roach. Living here has made me more involved in my campus community, something that would have never happened if I lived off-campus or had done online classes.

The experience is like no other. It is peaceful and I can get my work done without distracting noises around. If you are looking for a nice dorm area, pick may roach. There are numerous other forms around colleges that are absolutely obnoxious. It doesn’t let for studying and bettering a future. May roach does.
