UnionWest at Creative Village Dorm Reviews at Valencia

Overall, Unionwest is an overpriced unfinished building/promise. The staff is great, however some residents will experience some maintenance issues with their showers due to them not being properly sealed. The surrounding area at Unionwest isn't the best, there are a lot of homeless people roaming streets right next to the building. The remaining "restaurants" whey have not open yet due to the owners waiting for the dorms to be a full capacity, leaving residents with only Subway and Dunkin. This causes many students without a car to order expensive groceries either through Amazon, Walmart or Instacart. So, again I wouldn't recommend UnionWest dorms to other students, they are better off saving thousands and living in a better area by getting an apartment with roommates. There isn't much of a college feel in downtown, so if you are looking to experience college life and be social whether you are a Valencia student or a UCF student there are much better opportunities then Unionwest.

This is the first housing that Valencia College offers. All other Valencia campuses do not offer housing. This is an amazing and fun opportunity. Lots of restaurants and activities. Best part... it's downtown!

My experience at Unionwest is anything but a good one. For $900 a month I stayed in a match box of a room, with a bed not suitable for someone of my height (6'2). I also shared a bathroom with three other men, a room with one other person, and a kitchen with close to 100 people. The walls were like paper as were the blankets and sheets. So half the time I was cold, awake due to noise, or surrounded by people. Which is why when Covid-19 struck I decided to end my contract (as instructed by the dorm themselves). However, two months after i left the dorm (after beginning a contract with another company), Union West contacted me and demanded their $3000 for the months of rent that I did not pay due to the closing of my contract. As they put it I "technically" could have stayed there throughout the pandemic even with the risk, so therefore I should pay. Even though they are the ones who told me that I had to leave by the end of the week. For what it is worth, I wouldn't recommend this dorm for anyone! Good location? Sure. But for $900 you are getting nothing for your money!

The place is very clean and quiet and although they have ridiculous COVID-19 guidelines that restrict visitors, I enjoy living here. The only major downside is random power outages and the proximity to a high crime area.

I highly recommend everyone experience college at UnionWest, why because it was a great school with tremendous activities for residents to do together. Everyone there is friendly and helpful towards anyone in need.
