Carthage College Dorm Reviews

Many rooms have severe window leaks that are ignored, told was our fault, or we were told would be fixed and never were. There were several instances of people trying to break into my room and/or trashing my door decs. The lakeside rooms had a really nice view of the lake sunrise, but also had the most popular volleyball court directly outside and would be very noisy at night frequently. The rooms get very hot in hot weather, so a fan is definitely a must, and there may be days where it gets very very cold but not cold enough for long enough for maintenance to turn on the heat in fall/winter, or hot enough for long enough for them to turn off the heat in spring. Furthest traditional dorm hall from the academic buildings, but with it being connected to tower and johnson it is pretty convenient with bad weather especially going to the caf. It is also directly across from the student union for events or the other food options/red zone. If you're going for Madrigrano, I would recommend the upper floors, as many people use the first floor as an inside path between other buildings and it can get quite loud especially at night when there are parties. more

Throughout my experience living in Pat Tarble Residence Hall, I have found that it is very welcoming, inviting, and friendly. The addition of the free menstrual products in the hallways has made my own, and other residents, college experience much less stressful. The staff is very helpful and knowledgable about on-campus resources. The only things I would change about this residence hall would be to have central air/air conditioning, and have smoke detectors that work in ALL dorm rooms. more

Tarble Hall is located right in the middle of Campus Drive at Carthage College, which is very convenient walking distance to anywhere on campus. It quickly felt like home for me, and can for you too! <3 more

Personally, I do not feel that the students in the dorm building respected each other or the staff making it an unpleasant living space. One point while living there, the fire alarms went off almost every hour from 12 AM to 5 AM. At first they lasted several minutes then after the first three, they would go off for several seconds. Enough to wake us up, but never long enough to warrant us to leave. I lost several hours of sleep and missed a class due to it. more

Living in the Oaks is such an upgrade from living in communal dorms prior. If you upkeep your room and bathroom, it is very nice, but if you don’t it will get dirty. You can’t hear your neighbors which is nice so you have a sense of privacy too. more

overall I really like Johnson, so much so that next year I will be staying in Johnson! There are little things here and there that could be fixed but not really anything too intense. I also feel very safe, considering the security for the campus is right in the basement of Johnson! more

The Tower is one of the newest residence halls at IUPUI. Personally, I enjoy living there. It is set up like your average hotel room, therefore you have private bathrooms- which is a huge plus. It is easily within walking distance from every building on campus and its own dining hall on the lower level. more

Pat Tarble Hall is a stereotypical college underclassman dorm. The rooms are on the smaller side, based on the pictures of underclassmen dorms at universities/colleges in the area. There is no air conditioning, but if you have a lakeview or are in the basement/ bottom floors, there is really not an issue with keeping the room cool. It is the closest dorm to all of the academic buildings, which is nice when the weather gets cold. more
