Lt. James R. Polkinghorne Village East and West Dorm Reviews at Florida A&M

My experience living on the fifth floor is not the same as living on other floors that are notorious for noise and disruption, however, I believe this residence hall is the best option of all FAMU dorms as it is closest to most of my classes, provides a suite-style living space, and is in close proximity to the better of the two main dining halls. My main complaints lie in the lack of cleanliness on the studentsβ part, but that isnβt the staffβs entire responsibility to handle.

I like how relatively close to campus Village is. I am a business major, and the business building is right across the street, which is very convenient. I also love how they are single-suit dorms, meaning I get my room. I do wish the bathrooms were a little more up-to-date. The toilet is old-fashioned, and the shower doesnβt have a broad range of temperatures.

Polkinghorne Village a friendly and safe space for students. The building offers common rooms on each floor on east and west. The building stays clean as the students come together to keep it clean. The staff tries their best to make residents feel comfortable by hosting events and getting to know everyone there.

A mini home for someone that has never lived by herself. I was scared that it was going to be nosy with the amounts of students that were placed in one building. It is quiet for the most part, to focus on school work and enjoy being by myself. I am not shut off from the world, there is activity that students host to help build a sense of community. It's a fun experience to remember later in life.

I actually really liked it there. You're a short walking distance from the Cafe and the bus stops. You also get a lot of privacy in your room while but have different events in or near the building if your interested.

My is set up like a suit, when you walk in there are two doors in front of you one for each bedroom and then a door to the right to the bathroom and then to the left the sink (shared common area). Each room has a window a bed and a desk and closet. I had enough room to bring in a small refrigerator and microwave.

Polkinghorne Village has been a time of community and happiness with peers. It has its ups and downs but nonetheless it is a positive experience from staff to classmates to roommates to location and community as a whole.

It was alright nothing that made me say wow. An average place with average people. The dorms arent too small but they arent big. I do enjoy some of the people who live there company. The beds squeak some and its a little annoying but its fine.

As a resident of Lt. James R. Polkinghorne Village East. I strongly request that first and second-year students reside at this dorm. It is very convenient for those without cars because of its location. The Village, as it is referred to by most students, is right next to Bragg Stadium which means easy access to the football games. Another plus is how close it is to the Student Service Center. This is where you can find the book store, cafeteria, mail center, and my favorite restaurant Tropical Smoothie.

Village East and West is a good dorm. You have your own room and share a common space and bathroom with one other person. It's close to the cafe , so that's a plus. However, it is not the closest to classes, but not too far of a walk. Except for when it's cold or extremely hot that walk is dreadful. I love village because it felt like my own personal apartment and the bridge and additional rooms were cool too.

My experience at Polkinghorne Village has been a pretty good one so far. I am always meeting and interacting with new students from different backgrounds everyday. Due to Covid-19 the dorm has some pretty strict rules in order to keep us all healthy but still tries to make sure we don't miss out on any college experiences.

When we moved in, we did not have an ice maker in our freezer and had to ask for one. We also saw a few small bugs when we first moved in. Other than that, my experience has been great. The maintenance crew is nice and reliable. The apartments are great.

Village was my very first college campus experience and I loved every bit of it there were some ups and downs with the RA's but at the end of the day Village was really the place to be to get to know people and live our best lives as students
