My experience living on the fifth floor is not the same as living on other floors that are notorious for noise and disruption, however, I believe this residence hall is the best option of all FAMU dorms as it is closest to most of my classes, provides a suite-style living space, and is in close proximity to the better of the two main dining halls. My main complaints lie in the lack of cleanliness on the students’ part, but that isn’t the staff’s entire responsibility to handle. more

Palmetto South is a terrific living space. Once rules are established with the others living with you, your time will be enjoyable. One is not easy to socialize, the room sizes, kitchen access, and everything available in the house is worth it. more

Ever since they renovated the dorms, I can say that I love staying here. Shower is nice, kitchen is nice, floors could be better due to "finish". I like how much open space we have and the full length window in the living room. more

FAMU Village

I have loved my time at Village. I believe Village is located in one of the best spots on campus because it is right by the football stadium, bookstore and cafe/food court. The community at Village is great too, it honestly seems like a family. The RA's are helpful as well as the other residents. The halls can be a little noisy but it is always a good time at the Ville. more

South Apartments

Living in the south apartments was like living in your own little town with all your school friends. It was safe and you met lots of new people. You had your own wash room and little community area where you and some class met could meet up . more

FAMU Towers South

Living in Towers was interesting. I had a love hate relationship with it. There are times where events will be held downstairs. It's not too loud, but it is frustrating some times when you have work to complete. My neighbors were loud at times, but I simply just asked them to quiet it down which made it better. I love that you have your own bathroom and it stays clean as long as you keep it that way. There are room checks every other week which are easy to pass, but you have to make sure your room is clean and not clustered. more

Southern Scholarship Foundation

Essentially, Southern Scholarship Foundation (SSF) is a rent-free housing scholarship where you only have to pay about $1000 a semester for food, utilities, and etcetera. The only con is that you have to chores about every other day to keep the house clean and you live with 16-30 other residents depending on what house you're assigned to. Aside from this, it's a big win in my book as you're saving thousands each year. more

Rattler Pointe

I Love being here. It is nice and newly furnished. It's so close to the school and my classes, there is no need to even drive. The only issue is the lock can me difficult to lock sometimes, so you might me at the door for a few minutes trying to get it to work. Overall, a great experience! more

Palmetto South

This was one of the least expensive dorms on campus, so I wasn’t expecting anything luxurious. However, the hallways were always filthy. There is a really bad bug problem, especially in spring. It was not uncommon to have a water bug problem in your dorm. The bathrooms are very simplistic but often went out of commission. Also, a lot of things in the dorm were just simply out of commission, which wasn’t surprising considering how old it was. However, they are being improved this semester so hopefully those coming in after me will have a better experience. more
