The building itself is dated, so expectations shouldn't be too high if considering living here. Otherwise, there is parking in the area (assuming you purchased the correct parking pass) and a student store in the area. There are also 2 laundry rooms that are accessible to where ever you may be placed. The room layout isn't all that bad itself. I shared a room with another but there was plenty of space between us. I also had another pair of roommates right across from my room with a single bathroom. Kitchen utilities are dated, but plenty of cabinet space for kitchen utensils. There is some extra storage space for cleaning supplies and such. Overall, if you want a kitchen and don't mind sharing it with a couple others, this is the dorm to pick. more

It was very quiet yet calming where it kind of felt like a library. Sometimes it got a little too quiet where I would often wonder if there was anyone else present in the building. The staff always had a smile on their face and always kept an eye out for us. more

Hale Aloha Lehua

“
Hale Aloha Lehua is such a fantastic freshman experience, but due to the lack of air conditioning in the dorms, the windows have to stay open at all times for airflow, which can make for excessive exterior noise. Similar to all dorms with communal bathrooms, there are definitely times when the bathroom is not a pleasant place to be, but most of the time it is okay. Additionally, the towers are constructed in a circle format which really facilitates friendship and interactions. more

I mean who doesn’t love Hawaii? I’ll take a dirty dorm bathroom with bad showers, if it means I can be here. The walk to campus is pretty long, but it gets my exercise in! The people here are beyond nice we have such a nice community here! more

For what it was worth, it was good. It did it's job. It wasn't dirty. It was a great accommodation. We were on the bottom floor which was convenient because we didn't have to lug heavy things or groceries up stairs. We were next to a fraternity group that lived next door. It was good because we felt protected. It wasn't the typical fraternity you think of. They were really nice. We could leave our door open and wouldn't be bothered by anyone. It does get hot in there! more

Rooms are big. No air conditioning, but if you are on a top floor you get nice tradewinds from the open windows. Fans are a MUST! 4 Bathrooms are shared among the floor and could be MUCH better and cleaner, but I guess that is part of the experience! more

Gateway House

“
Gateway is a really good option for students who want to live on-campus, especially for those who just moved to the islands. With just a 5-10 minute walk from the dorms, you will reach the campus center which includes the food court, bookstore, and recreational gym. more

Laulima

1 Review

“
Unless you have noisy neighbors, Laulima is really quiet. It's tucked away from all the other dorms and consists mostly of upperclassmen who keep to themselves, which can be nice. A little rundown since it's among the oldest dorms, but it's close to a hidden Japanese garden and a river, as well as closer to the majority of classes and to Safeway. Staff is laid back and fun. more

Ilima Hall

“
My experience at the Illima dorm was not very good. The bathrooms were very dirty and unsanitary. I was on the third floor and had a roommate for the 1st semester. She left the school and I had the room to myself until Covid-19 hit March 13th. I left the dorm for Spring break that day and did not return the entire semester. The experience as a Freshman in the dorm I feel could have been better if some additional funds would be released for proper cleaning and updates. more
