Bill of Rights Dorm Reviews at Hofstra

Bill of Rights was an experience I would say. I loved how the location was close to the student center, making it easier to get to classes on a timely basis. I also loved how nice the staff was as I always greeted them and they would greet me back. The common room was spacious and open, giving me the ability to exercise or relax during my free time. My only issue with this building was the lack of safety in the building. During my senior year, a student kept triggering the fire alarm by burning candles near the sprinklers in their dorm room. Residents had to leave the building on a weekly basis and we had to wait in the freezing cold at 3 am for the firefighters to come to check out the building. This pattern of behaviors repeated for a month until the culprit was caught and fined for their actions. I hated how little our public safety did when these fire alarms were going off for a long period of time and I hope they set up future protocols to discourage such behaviors.

I had a corner room on the 8th floor. One entire wall was windows, which had a great view towards one side of campus. The room was very big, and I felt very comfortable sharing it with a roommate. The dressers can fit under the beds, so it is easy to maximize floor space in there. The windows allowed there to be a lot of natural lighting in the room, and the heat/AC worked fantastic throughout the whole year.
