Compared to some of the other dorm halls that I've visited, Snyder is definitely more tame. The bathrooms can be tough to deal with, especially if you wake up early before the cleaning crew does daily maintenance. Although the noise has never been too loud, and that is a huge plus, especially when it comes to studying and test taking. Overall, I would recommend living at Snyder if you're looking at the East dorms. more

Best dorm building at penn state. It’s right by the bus stop and is brand new. Private bathrooms shared with the entire floor. Staff is super nice... but that is fairly consistent throughout the campus. more

McKean Hall at Penn State University Park is such a great dorm. The building is renovated, which includes air conditioning and semi-private bathrooms. Everyday the bathrooms are cleaned. The building as a whole is always kept looking nice. Location is great! My dorm faced Beaver Stadium, so I had a great view! Also, the dorm receives a ton of natural light! more

Packer has a very good location in East Halls, as it is the closest to campus and is a short walk to the dining hall. It is one of the last non-renovated halls to still be standing, however, it provided a normal freshman dorm experience. more

Packer Hall

I had a decent experience at Packer Hall traditional dorms. The location was great because it was near the commons and all other freshman were located there. However, the dorms were very old fashioned and lacked cleanliness. My RA was amazing and very attentive to the students. She was super sweet in our group chat and tried her best to form a relationship with the students. more

Geary Hall

A very nice dorm. Has private bathrooms, and study rooms & is very close to the creamery. It is pretty far from downtown. Overall, it's one of the best dorms, but the location isn't really ideal for many. more

It can be loud at times but it's what you expect at a dorm. If you like your roommate it isn't bad but it isn't somewhere I'd want to live again if I didn't have to. Make sure to clean the bedroom before moving in. more

So far it has been good. There aren't any paper towels in the bathroom and the hallways need some airing but other than that everything is great. The hallways aren't noisy. The elevators don't take long but again there are only 4 floors. There's a nice kitchen area and they provide the dish soap and scrub so that's great! more

Pennypacker is a great dorm building to get as a freshman. It is one of the closet dorms to the stadium making it great to go back and forth for the football games. While it is a walk to everywhere on campus from Pennypacker it is a great place to live for your first year more

Last year, I stayed at an unrenovated dorm that wasn't a very fun experience. This dorm has felt like the exact opposite. It's clean, modern, well thought out, and just overall has a nice feel to it. I get the impression that most of the south halls at penn state are similar, so I think that anyone staying in south halls may have a similar sentiment to me more

Hiester

I stayed in Hiester during the COVID-19 school year of Fall2020-Spring2021. The hall was not completely full and that's what made it quiet and clean. Staff is now cleaning everyday but apparently this is not the normal. Pollock halls are one of the last halls left unrenovated so the halls do look old whereas, the freshmen halls look like hotels and a lot nicer but messier and louder. more

I stayed at Runkle during COVID. I am an agriculture student so I’m close to the buildings where my classes would be. The staff are very friendly and willing to help with any issues. The firm is suites so the bathrooms are what you make of them. more

Like: pod style bathrooms, bathrooms cleaned every day, right next to dining hall, downtown Dislike: small dorm rooms, can get loud (outside noise) because downtown location, only 5 bathrooms for 30+ people more
