Bursley

Bursley is located on the north campus of UMich, which is not ideal for most individuals. I have found the commute to be rather nice because it allows for an escape from the craziness of central. The nearby gym is a perk, as well as the outdoor landscape. more

Mary Markley Hall

Mary Markley Hall is great - the location is prime to all of my classes and to the town. I have met some great people in my dorm and right from the start developed friendships with people on another floor. The bathroom is right near my room which is great. While my room is small, it has everything I need, including a window, furniture, and having the bed up higher allows me to put things below so all of my stuff fits in. more

Couzens was an overall great experience, the rooms were nice, and the noise wasn't too much. The bathrooms were sometimes an issue as far as cleanliness but messes were never left there too long before someone came to clean. more

It was one of the furthest dorms from the center of campus, but it was great because I was on the edge of campus right by the gym and the dining hall! I also was right near the walking trails and parking lot so I could get out whenever I wanted. more

Overall I think it was a really good experience. The dorm is right next door to a dining hall, and it is very clean and modern. There are a ton of public study spaces that are ideal for individual or group study. The one negative thing that I would really change is that the walls are pretty thin, so noise carries very very well all throughout the hallways and into the dorm rooms. Otherwise, I think I got really lucky with such a great freshman dorm experience. more

Mosher-Jordan Hall

The food is Great! It is under heavy security. You need your badge to enter the dorm, as well, to enter your room. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. There is also, always, someone on staff just in case someone does get locked out of the room. The Hill (which is where this dorm is located, among others) is in a very convenient location. It is in walking distance from the bus stops, downtown Ann Arbor, Hospital, and the CCRB (Campus Gym). I highly recommend this location for incoming freshmen or sophomore, until the become better acquainted with the Umich Campus. more

Stockwell Hall

Stockwell had a very good location on the Hill. It is just across the bridge from classroom buildings like the CCCB and the Chemistry Building. Though it doesn't contain a dining hall, it is next to the MoJo dorm that has a good dining hall. Stockwell has a quiet room with computers and printers, as well as a game room, dining room, kitchen, individual study rooms, and larger group study rooms. The rooms can be on the smaller side. more

Martha Cook Building

I love this dorm so much and will probably stay all four years. The location, food, and community here does not compare to other dorms. Residents range from freshman to grad students, creating a built-in mentorship/support system. It's also a small dorm (about 150 residents), so it's easy to make friends and meet new people. The rooms are noticeably larger than in other dorms, and they are well furnished. The dining hall is also separate from MDining and serves much better food that feels like getting homecooked meals. I will say the cost of living in Martha is a bit more than other dorms, but they offer generous scholarships. more
