Summit Hall

It's a great central location for me. It's close to classes, food, Student Union, library. It's also well maintained. If I don't feel like going out, I can just look out my window onto Sanford Mall and people watch. more

Bowie Hall

Bowie Hall is one of the oldest Halls at App State and it shows. It is located at the top of a large hill at the very corner of campus. It is what I would consider the direct opposite of universal housing. Although there are two elevators, they have broken down multiple times throughout the semester. There is also a small staircase that must be climbed in order to reach the elevators, so hopefully, no Bowie Hall residents are ever put in a wheel chair on crutches. The staff is amazing, but the building is very very rough. more

Eggers Hall

It was good however it’s an old dorm so no AC and lots of other weird sounds. It’s a lot of rules for covid, but everything was pretty secure and up to covid-19 code. Other than that, it was fun and nice more

Newland Hall

it was great! I loved my RA, I loved the location, the only problem was that the people on my floor never followed the rules about noise. Other than on my floor though, all the kids were great (nice, respectful) and the staff was great (chill and kind). more

Hoey Hall

It was overall a decent dorm. It was not the best dorm on campus, but it was not the worst. It never felt like home, but you can't except a dorm to feel like home. I was woken up by the cleaning people every morning ate around 6 am. There was never enough toilet paper on the weekends either since the cleaning staff didn't work weekends. more

Thunder Hill Hall

The dorms are by far one of the nicest on campus. The rooms were the biggest and it was suite style. It actually felt like a room. The bathrooms were very nice and always had hot water and good shower pressure. more

Cannon Hall

Move in day was a hassle. Knew my room would be small but it is simple to small for two people. Beds are not stable so you feel like you could fall at any small movement, and ceilings are not tall enough I have hit my over 20 times already. more

East Hall

East Hall overall was decent. I lived on the subfloor and the maintenance varies from year to year, based on the RA. There is no air condition because it is one of the oldest dorms on campus, however, it is one of the largest dorms that have the biggest rooms. I would live there again! more

Living Learning Center (LLC)

Generally it was ideal for the dorm experience. The kitchens were clean and bathrooms were shared between you and 3 other people. staff was accountable and cool. A pretty steep walk to campus but I lived. more

Doughton Hall

It was a good environment. I'm an introvert, so I didn't really hang out with anyone but everyone I interacted with was nice. It was somewhat noisy, but it usually wasn't too bad. I lived on the top floor, and the elevator was slow at times when I went there, but it was usually pretty reliable. The air went out towards the end of my stay there, which was not fun, it was summer. There was a bus stop, but it was on top of a steep hill, and while it wasn't super close to anywhere besides the English building, it was hardly removed from everything either. more

It's not that the place is filthy - it's just old and rundown. One of the girls' bathrooms on our floor didn't have a working door from the hallway, so all 16 girls on the floor shared one bathroom (2 toilets, 2 sinks, 2 showers). more

Cone Hall

I personally have had the best memories in Cone Hall, the people are super welcoming and sweet. My only issue would be having to use a hand dryer instead of a paper towel dispenser, it is proven that hand dryers are not very sanitary and that they spread the air in the atmosphere into the hands you just washed. more

Belk Hall

Lived there for a year and got harassed the second semester. The rooms are small and the air conditioning broke for a while, leaving us in high 70s to mid 80s. The staff was nice and they had many social events for people to get to know others in their building more

Elkstone Hall

I lived in Elkstone my freshman year. It had been recently renovated so the flooring was brand new. My favorite part of the room was the natural lighting from the large windows. One thing I think could be improved is the lobby area. We had a ping pong table but I think having a few activities could allow for a better sense of community among the entire hall. more

Laurel Creek Hall

Laurel creek is a great dorm, you really can’t go wrong with any of the west side dorms. Definitelt would reccomend :). The facilities are nice and the outdoor space is wonderful. Free laundry and they even have a hammock garden right outside the dorm! more

Coltrane Hall

My experience with Coltrane hall as one of its last residents before it is demolished has been good. Overall the RAs and staff have been inviting and helpful and my fellow hallmates have been nice. The only complaints to come from this hall are that sometimes the hall can get a little loud at late hours and the building doesn't have AC but otherwise I liked it. more

Appalachian Heights

It was a hike to get to app Heights, but aside from that, and the scary "rape stairs" that were an option if you didnt want to catch the bus or walk up the STEEP hill, it was still the best on campus housing for upper level students.. unfortunately as with my freshman year housing, the separated apartment style housing did leave a lack of connection to those outside of the suite. more
